Lawrence Pereira
Founder and managing partner of the firm, Lawrence Pereira's reputation within the insurance fraternity precedes him. As founder and Chairman of South East Asia Insurance Berhad, now known as Uni.Asia General Insurance Bhd, he served the industry both in Malaysia and Singapore for more than 30 years. A graduate of the University of Singapore, Lawrence was an Advocate & Solicitor of the Singapore High Court as well as the High Court of Malaya. His legal proficiency extends to commercial matters with particular focus on insurance litigation, including marine and non-marine Insurance matters, cross border disputes as well as domestic arbitration and dispute resolution.
George Pereira
A senior partner of the firm, George is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK (ACII) and holds a Diploma in Financial Planning awarded by the Singapore College of Insurance. He supports the firm with his close to 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, having started his career with a firm of Lloyds Underwriters in Singapore. George graduated from the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom in 1985 and holds an Honors degree in Law and is an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. Apart from his expertise in Insurance Law, he is also conversant in Financial and Corporate Law and sits on the Boards of several companies.
Ananda Jothy Ratnasingam
A partner since 1990, Ananda graduated from the University of Buckingham, England in 1986 with an Honors degree in Law and is an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. His 24 years of legal advocacy in the Malaysia has rendered him with wide experience in active court work in contentious litigation (civil and criminal), human resources (labour and industrial relations), corporate and commercial banking and insurance. Ananda's edge lies with insurance and human resources. He adopts a proactive approach in handling appeals, in a thorough and meticulous manner.
Nathan Maharajah
A Barrister and Solicitor of the New Zealand High Court and an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, Nathan has over 23 years of legal advocacy experience in Malaysia and two years of similar experience in New Zealand. He appears frequently as lead counsel in various Insurance and Corporate Commercial matters. Nathan also has a number of professional qualifications including Associate of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII) and Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb). His expertise extends to commercial, corporate, banking and financial services, insurance, personal injury claims, medical negligence and both domestic and international arbitration.
Ian Pereira
The youngest partner in the firm, Ian graduated from Bond University, Australia in 1997 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting & Law. He heads the Corporate and Property Department at Lawrence Pereira & Partners and maintains an excellent working relationship with numerous financial institutions in Malaysia as well as the various land offices in KL and Selangor. His experience also extends to insurance litigation (non motor); conveyancing and financing agreements (conventional and Islamic); and insurance contracts.
